The ISEC Department of Psychology Showcases Best Practices
April 3, 2026
On April 2, a workshop dedicated to sharing the best practices of the Department of Psychology was held at the International Scientific-Educational Center (ISEC) of the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Armenia (NAS RA). The event was organized through the initiative of the ISEC Quality Assurance Department, as part of the strategic actions outlined in the "ISEC Improvement Plan."
The workshop was attended by heads of various ISEC departments, administrative staff, faculty members, and Master’s students of the Department of Psychology.
The activities of the Department of Psychology (Head: D.Sc. in Psych., Prof. Naira Hakobyan) were presented at the workshop by the department's lecturer, PhD in Psych., Assoc. Prof. Anna Khachatryan․
The presentation highlighted diverse facets of the Department's academic and scientific activities, including:
- Advanced teaching methodologies and research achievements.
- Career development initiatives, seminars, and masterclasses featuring both internal and guest speakers.
- Key performance indicators for faculty and students, ranging from published scientific papers to successfully defended theses and active international mobility.
A point of particular significance was the Department's success over the past two years in conducting collaborative scientific grant projects. These projects actively involved Master’s students, who demonstrated exceptional engagement and professional efficiency.
Furthermore, the steady and year-on-year growth in applicant and student numbers was noted as a hallmark of the Department's success.
The session also delved into the Department’s internal culture of quality assurance. It was emphasized that the continuous improvement of educational programs is heavily informed by student surveys, alumni feedback, and employer evaluations. The Department has also established excellence in organizing self-assessment and peer-review processes—efforts highly valued by the ISEC Quality Assurance Department.
While celebrating successes, the speaker also addressed the factors contributing to these achievements and the challenges encountered on the path to further progress. The speaker's presentation was followed by a dynamic discussion, with participants welcoming both the Department's expertise and the initiative to hold such meetings.
The workshop was opened and concluded by Narine Vardanyan, Head of the ISEC Quality Assurance Department, PhD, Associate Professor. She emphasized that sharing best practices is a cornerstone of quality development within the university system. She reaffirmed that the Quality Assurance Department remains committed to the "ISEC Improvement Plan," striving to sustain and further evolve the culture of professional exchange within the Center.
