ISEC NAS RA is expanding cooperation with the NAS RA scientific organizations

On January 12, an agreement was signed between the International Scientific-Educational Center of NAS RA and the Institute of Botany after A.L. Takhtajyan NAS RA for development and implementation of master's education, research activities, as well as joint international programs.

Within the framework of the agreement, it is planned to establish a chair of "Biodiversity and Ecosystem Studies" of ISEC NAS RA which will be under supervision of the Botany Institute of NAS RA, implementing the "Study and Protection of Biodiversity" master's educational program.

Director of the International Scientific-Educational Center of the NAS RA, Armen Sargsyan noted that almost in all leading countries of the world research universities are considered the best higher education institutions, where the educational process is organized through integration of educational and research components, hence, ISEC NAS RA is an exclusive prototype of a research university in Armenia.

A. Sargsyan emphasized that the specialized chairs of the Center are located in various scientific institutes of the National Academy of Sciences of RA, which enables master’s students to perform practical research work in scientific laboratories alongside with their studies, as well as to cooperate with outstanding scientists. "In this context, I attach great importance to this cooperation and the establishment of a new specialized chair on the basis of the RA NAS Institute of Botany which will provide high-quality and competitive education with an emphasis on the research component and will contribute to the development of the student's research skills," concluded A. Sargsyan.

Director of the RA NAS Institute of Botany named after Takhtajyan, Arsen Gasparyan also emphasized the importance of this cooperation, which will give scientific and specialized structures ample opportunities for close cooperation and efficient work. A. Gasparyan assured that by the end of the academic program the student will be quite competitive in the labor market.

Head of ISEC NAS RA Foreign Affairs Department, Arusyak Harutyunyan noted in her speech that as a result of the productive work of the Center's specialized chairs operating in the scientific institutes of the NAS RA, the best students are accepted to work in the institutes and get a chance to continue their scientific and educational activities.

The event ended with a tour for the delegation of ISEC, organized by Arsen Gasparyan, director of the NAS RA Institute of Botany, presenting the infrastructures of the Yerevan Botanical Garden, which is supposed to be an institution of scientific, eco-educational and recreational significance.

Due to its consistent work over seventy years of its activity, it has become a leading and large scientific institution, where valuable floristic studies of fundamental and applied significance are carried out. In recent years, the arboreal collections of the Botanical Garden, the fund of tropical and subtropical plants have been enriched, an Eco-epicenter has been created, where specimens collected from different phytogeographical regions of the world are presented; species of widespread botanical and geographical interest, as well as rare or endangered valuable plant species are represented.
