A two-day training course on "Ancient and Modern Armenian Language"

The Department of Linguistics of International Scientific-Educational Center of NAS RA invites you to participate in an intensive two-day training course on "Ancient and Modern Armenian Language".

The course will be conducted by а research worker of Leiden University, Ph.D., Armenologist Hrach Martirosyan.

The training course is aimed at thorough presentation of the origin and historical development of the Armenian language and culture, the tools and methods of patriotism, the constant process and logic of language changes, the understanding of the phonetic law, the multi-layered realities of language and culture, the means of distinguishing between scientific and pseudo-scientific propositions, the linguistic, cultural and chronological characteristics of the historical presence of the Armenian language in the Armenian Highlands, particularly in Artsakh and Syunik, modern linguistic challenges, etc.

The thematic basis covers the whole history of the Armenian language, starting from Indo-European origins to Armenian ancient and literary languages as well as dialects. Particular attention will be paid to dialectal and linguistic-cultural features of Artsakh and Syunik, especially the natural environment, mythology, beliefs and material culture, particularly carpet weaving.

The duration of the training course is 2 days, 5 hours per day.

The course starts on September 19, at 10:30 and on September 20, at 9:30.

The course will take place at the International Scientific-Educational Center of the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Armenia, in the lecture room N 2.1 (Yerevan, Marshal Baghramyan 24D, 2nd floor).
