July 6, 2022

On July 5, 2022, through joint initiative of the Public Relations and Career Department of the International Scientific-Educational Center of the NAS RA and the Student Council, with the support of ISEC director Armen Sargsyan, a cultural trip was organized for the students to discover the historical and cultural values of Armenia.

The trip started from one of the unique masterpieces of Armenian architecture, Zvartnots Cathedral, which is included in the list of UNESCO World Heritage Sites in Armenia. During the tour the students had the opportunity to recall again the interesting facts and events related to the history of the temple, built in the 7th century.

The ISEC dean, Atom Mkhitaryan, organized an interesting teambuilding activity for the students.

The next destination of the trip was the Memorial Complex of Sardarapat Battle to once again pay tribute and bow to the memory of our heroes who won a glorious victory in the Armenian-Turkish battle of 1918. The students also visited the National Museum of Armenian Ethnography and History of Liberal Struggle, which is considered to be an integral part of the Memorial Complex, where Armenian history, culture, craft and lifestyle are presented in a capturing way, starting from the primitive societies up to the present.

The tour ended at the amazing Qagheni (Dashtadem) fortress, which is a unique complex with its architectural solutions and strategic significance, located in Aragatsotn province. Here, the students took advantage of conducting geological researches and observations, studied in detail the citadel, church, monastery of Saint Christopher and the ruins of an ancient settlement located inside the fortress, discovering for themselves one of the largest fortresses in Armenia in all its charm.

At the end of the day, the participants of the tour were greatly impressed by a rich and bright day, noting the need for frequent organization of such scientific and cultural events, which contribute to combining the pleasant with the useful, as a result of which they were able to relax after the exams and have a good time together, as well as to conduct joint researches in the specialized field of geology.

Lilit Adamyan, the head of the ISEC Public Relations and Career Department, expressed her admiration for the personal and professional qualities of the students and promised that they would not have to wait long for the next trip; the excursion route has already been jointly decided, which will be organized at the beginning of new academic year.
