Reforms in PhD Education on Agenda NAS RA

Within the framework of the Tempus VERITAS “Structural Development of the Third Cycle Based on Salzburg Principles” there was organized an in-house training on the PhD Education Reforms in the National Academy of Sciences on September 9th.

Academician and the President of RA National Academy of Sciences Radik Martirosyan, director of RA NAS International Scientific Educational Center Albert Sargsyan, RA NAS presidium members, and scientific secretaries of the affiliated scientific and research institutions were present at the training. Among the invited speakers were the Deputy  chairman of the RA Supreme Certifying Committee Atom Mkhitaryan and the head of the department of professional education policy development of the RA Ministry of Education and Science Edgar Aleksanyan.

Following the opening greetings by the President of RA National Academy of Sciences Radik Martirosyan, NAS RA ISEC head of the Foreign affairs department Arusyak Harutyunyan introduced EU Tempus «VERITAS» project's achievements in the Third Cycle education so far,  talked about existing problems and further priorities of the project. RA SCC Deputy chairman Atom Mkhitaryan presented latest reforms in the RA PhD award criteria while Edgar Aleksanyan introduced RA decision about the reforms in the system of PhD admission and training regulations. Arsen Arakelyan, director of NAS RA Institute of Molecular Biology spoke about institutional policies and introduced strategic plan of “Molecular Biology” PhD program.

NAS PhD department head Karine Begoyan concluded the training by Q&A session with scientific secretaries.
