Department of Plant Diversity and Ecosystem Studies of ISEC NAS RA was established in 2023 jointly with Institute of Botany aft. A.Takhtajyan of NAS RA․ The Department operates within the Institute of Botany after A. Takhtajyan at the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Armenia and involves leading experts.
Objectives:
The aim of the Department is to act as an integrated platform in education, research and science communication, in the fields of biodiversity, nature conservation and sustainable use of biological resources.
The mission of the Department is to educate the future generation through innovative teaching methods, hands-on field experiences, and research opportunities, inspiring them to become leaders in the field of Biodiversity and Wildlife Conservation.
A strong focus of education and research is set on the topics of phytodiversity and terrestrial ecosystems within the context of sustainable development and global change.
The core values enable the Department to lead effectively and contribute meaningfully to environmental education, science and biodiversity conservation efforts.

Research Works
The teaching staff of the Department is actively involved in scientific activities. Most of them lead national and international scientific programs, publish research papers in leading international journals and academic publishers. In the last five years alone, they have collectively authored about 70 scientific articles, 20 book chapters, and 2 monographs. Additionally, they actively participate in various international conferences, training courses, and other professional events. Through close collaboration with international partners, they contribute significantly to the internationalization and promotion of education and science.
