Meeting with Employers

On March 26, a meeting with leading and major employers of the ISEC Departments of Geology, Economics and Management took place at the International Scientific-Educational Center of NAS RA.

The meeting was attended by Yerjanik Zargaryan, Deputy Director on Educational Affairs of ISEC NAS RA, Narine Vardanyan, Head of Quality Assurance Department, Karen Sargsyan, Head of the Department of Economics and Management, Lilit Sargsyan, Head of the Department of Geology, and employers, Khachatur Meliksetyan, Director of the Institute of Geological Sciences of NAS RA, and Arman Vardanyan, Technical Director of Zangezur Copper Molybdenum Combine.

Yerjanik Zargaryan presented the agenda of the meeting, which covered the cooperation development between the ISEC Departments and employers as well as the prospects for modifying the professional education program to better meet the demands of the labor market.

Head of the Quality Assurance Department, Narine Vardanyan, emphasized the importance of regular employer-led assessment and improvement of the professional education programs, as well as the analysis of employers' opinions regarding the graduates’ knowledge, abilities and skills.She also expressed hope that the collaboration established with the Zangezur Copper Molybdenum Combine will contribute to the quality assurance of education programs, as well as the training of staff members in line with the labor market requirements.

Head of the Geology Department, Lilit Sargsyan, highlighted in her speech that local and international collaboration is the cornerstone for each year's improvements to the professional education program. Taking into account that the Department of Geology collaborates with the University of Lille in France under the Erasmus+ international credit mobility program, and students with outstanding progress have the opportunity to study for one semester at one of the leading European universities, hence, the professional education program is regularly reviewed and adjusted to international standards. It is also important to note that the Department of Geology is located in the Institute of Geological Sciences of NAS RA, where the department’s advanced students pursue their professional careers, therefore, the requirements of the Institute in terms of professional development are also taken into consideration as a major employer.

Technical Director of Zangezur Copper-Molybdenum Combine A. Vardanyan, welcomed the organization of the meeting and underlined the significance of maintaining a close relationship between the employer and the university throughout the studies, which makes it possible to develop efficient solutions for creating skilled workforce for the future. During his speech, he referred to the professions in which there is currently a severe shortage of workers and reflected on the skills that young professionals need to acquire.

Following the discussion, a decision was made to create joint intensive courses targeted at enhancing and developing professional abilities and skills in addition to the professional educational program.
